Starting from November 23 to December 2 in the UC Gymnasium, the women’s volleyball tournament for Intramural 2023 began the elimination round, and the College of Accountancy secured a spot and advanced to the final round.
The team played three matches, winning all of them. They emerged victorious against the College of Law, the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, and the College of Business Administration.
The COA women’s volleyball team dominates their bracket, and with that, it allows them to qualify for the finals, which will occur in January 2024.
The girls devoted their time and energy to each training session, made efforts to play tune-up games with other teams, and worked hard to learn from any mistake they made so that it would not be repeated.
One of the players, Neri Mendoza, said, “From the start of the intramurals, we have already set goals to achieve not just small wins but bigger victories. Now that we are heading towards the finals, we are already feeling the pressure as the teams we are about to face have shown remarkable skills throughout the elimination rounds. However, this pressure will motivate us to train harder and push ourselves to the limits.”
Mr. Lorenzo Dominic Salazar, CPA, MBA, as their head coach, says, “I am happy for the team and for the College of the Accountancy syempe kasi we worked hard for it.” He also adds, “But the assignment is not yet done, the job is not yet done.”
Each game, despite the physical and mental challenges, these players exposed what their hearts truly desired—the championship. And as they are one step closer to it, now more than ever, they are willing to work even harder to achieve it.
Working together as a team and helping one another, as long as the team sticks together, acts and plays as one, focuses on their goal, and above all, does all this while enjoying every moment they have in the tournament.
The greater challenge is on its way as the tournament leads to the finals, but these girls will definitely give the best plays and put up a fight with whoever their opponent may be.
