PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Philippines, in collaboration with the University of the Cordilleras Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (UC-JPIA), conducted its second campus visit and comprehensive seminar for College of Accountancy (COA) students at the UC Auditorium on January 9.

The event featured four speakers from PwC’s Human Capital division who shared insights on career opportunities and upcoming accounting standards. Kate Fernandez, Human Capital Associate, opened the session by introducing PwC and outlining various career paths available to accounting graduates within the firm.

Edgieson Canquin, Human Capital Senior Associate, delivered an interactive session on resume writing and Rafael Zaballero, Human Capital Assistant Manager, honed the participants’ interview skills. Both speakers equipped students with practical tips for future job applications.

The seminar also included a presentation on the 2024 International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) updates by Marc Angelo Sanchez, Assurance Manager. Sanchez discussed two major changes: IFRS 18, which covers presentation and disclosure in financial statements, and IFRS 19, which addresses subsidiaries without public accountability disclosures.

The event highlighted PwC Philippines’ commitment to developing future accounting professionals while keeping them informed about the latest developments in financial reporting standards. Students gained both practical career guidance and technical knowledge essential for their professional development.
