The College of Accountancy (COA) made history on January 8, 2025, as they clinched their first-ever gold medal in women’s volleyball, dominating a round-robin competition against all college departments. Their victory marks a monumental achievement for the team and their department.
COA showcased their skill and determination throughout the tournament, securing the most wins in the preliminary round and advancing to the final stage. In a thrilling championship showdown, they triumphed over the College of Teacher Education (CTE) and the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) with 3 wins out of 4 for both sets, sealing their place in history. Their resilience and teamwork propelled them to a well-deserved victory, bringing immense pride to their college.
Sir Lorenzo Salazar, Sports Head of COA and coach, expressed his joy and gratitude following the team’s remarkable achievement. In a heartfelt statement, he highlighted the team’s dedication and the hard-fought journey from the elimination round to the finals. “It has been a long journey of preparation, and this win is a testament to the team’s perseverance. Last year, the team fell short and took home silver, but this season, their goal since day one was to get the championship title,” Salazar added.
This historic victory proves that COA students excel not only in academics but also in athletics. The team now looks ahead to defending their title in future competitions.
