The University of the Cordilleras – College of Accountancy (UC-COA) proudly led a transformative Bookkeeping Training for 53 female Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) at the Baguio City Jail Female Dormitory, along with selected jail personnel. This initiative reflects UC-COA’s commitment to inclusive education and community upliftment.
The training was facilitated by four of UC-COA’s esteemed faculty members and Certified Public Accountants: Prof. Carlos Vicuna, Prof. Bernadette Velasquez, Prof. Florendo Dauz, and Prof. Gregorio Roxas. Their sessions equipped participants with foundational bookkeeping skills—practical tools that can support small business ventures after release or enhance existing livelihood projects within the facility, such as bayong making, beads crafting, and baking.
This initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of UC-COA, BCF Credit Cooperative, and the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants – BBMP Chapter. Together, these partners created a learning environment that fosters hope, dignity, and sustainable reintegration.
UC-COA extends its heartfelt thanks to its partners and dedicated speakers for helping bring the college’s mission of service and transformation to life.
