The University of the Cordilleras welcomes new student leaders for the school year 2023-2024 in a Mass Induction and Leadership Summit themed ‘ALPAS: Redefining Excellence through Servant Leadership’ at the UC Gymnasium on the 26th of January 2024.
The University Student Council, in collaboration with various College Student Councils, the SHS Supreme Student Organization, and a myriad of institutional groups, adorned in Filipiñana and Barong attire, joined the said program.
In the morning, attendees absorbed valuable insights from Ms. Mia Magdalena Fokno, a fervent advocate for human rights and indigenous people, emphasizing the importance of embracing one’s roots, continuous education, and fostering relationships.
Notably, a special video message from Ms. Sarah Elago, the first female representative of the youth party list in the House of Representatives of the Philippines, added a layer of inspiration to the event.
Attendees also witnessed the student leaders take their oaths, emphasizing their dedication to servant leadership principles, and then both USC presidents gave turnover and acceptance speeches, straightforwardly addressing their roles and responsibilities.
After the induction, the UC Leadership Summit resumed in the afternoon, featuring keynote lessons from beloved lecturers. The attendees focused on engaging discussions led by Mr. Eldon Harris B. Soriano of the OSAS-Guidance Counseling Office on Conflict Management and SARF Processing and a comprehensive overview of safety programs by Mr. Jonathan Aurello C. Rosalin, the head of Occupational Safety and Health.
Acknowledging local governance, the officers for the school year 2023-2024 from the College of Accountancy’s Student Council and the UC Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants were formally introduced.
