The University of the Cordilleras (UC) officially opened the 2023 intramurals on November 23 at the gymnasium, which were attended by different colleges and senior high school departments.
Taekwondo, wushu taolu, and drumline exhibitions were prepared as front acts. The celebration began with a word of encouragement from the Sports Development Office Director, Mr. Danilo L. Cong-o, PhD, followed by the governor and dean of each college unfurling their banners. The athletes from various sports, including basketball, volleyball, chess, table tennis, and badminton, then took the sportsmanship pledge.
Mr. Ray Dean Salvosa declared the start of the 2023 intramurals and lit the friendship flame, which was done by the captains of each sport at the university.
In addition to launching the 2023 intramurals, the institution debuted its official sports mascot, Benjie. The mascot arrived at the venue with an engaging dance performance, accompanied by the UC Center for Creative Production and the Sports Development Office, and the students were ecstatic to have finally met him.
The College of Criminal Justice Education, the College of Business Administration, the College of Engineering and Architecture, the College of Hotel Tourism and Management, the College of Information Technology and Computer Science, the College of Nursing, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Teacher Education, the College of Accountancy, Grade 11 and Grade Senior High School loudly and proudly poured their love to show support of their respective colleges and enthusiasm for said event.
The intramurals began with a cheer and dance competition straight after the opening, then proceeded to ball games in the afternoon.
