UCan COA-nt on Us: BS AIS 3B Delivers Multi-Sector Outreach for PWD Community

Students from BS Accounting Information System (AIS) Block 3B of the University of the Cordilleras conducted a multi-sector outreach program titled “UCan COA-nt on Us: Collaboration of Abilities” on March 20, 2026, at Elpidio R. Quirino Elementary School in Irisan, Baguio City, benefiting over 50 members of the Blessed Community of Persons with Disabilities Inc. (BCPDI).

The initiative was led by Project Head Leziel Anne G. Bacani under the guidance of Mr. Datsun C. Montes. It was implemented in coordination with Barangay Irisan and supported by multiple university units, including the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Office, Health Service Office, Center for Social Responsibility, and UC Project H.E.L.E.N, along with external sponsors.

The program was structured into four components: Health, Education, Livelihood, and Environment. Each component delivered targeted interventions aligned with the needs of the beneficiaries.

Under the education component, participants attended a financial literacy seminar facilitated by a faculty member from the College of Business Administration, focusing on budgeting and basic entrepreneurship. Learning support activities were also conducted for children, including reading tutorials and distribution of mathematics books to reinforce foundational skills.

Health-related interventions included the distribution and demonstration of first aid kits and emergency go-bags, supported by the OSH Office. Health supplements were also provided in partnership with the university’s Health Service Office to promote sustained well-being.

For livelihood development, participants received advanced massage training facilitated by certified trainers. The session was complemented by discussions on costing and marketing, along with the provision of materials such as oils, promotional tools, and a printer to support income-generating activities.

The program also incorporated interactive activities, including games and group engagements, designed to foster participation and reinforce learning. A symbolic purple ribbon campaign was observed throughout the event to promote awareness and inclusion of persons with disabilities.

The initiative demonstrated a coordinated approach to community engagement by integrating education, health, and livelihood support. It highlighted the capacity of student-led programs to deliver targeted, practical interventions for marginalized groups through institutional collaboration.
