College of Accountancy Fosters Student Engagement, Academic Integrity, and Inclusivity Through General Assembly

September 26, 2026: To support its commitment to providing a transparent, supportive, and cohesive learning environment, the University of the Cordilleras (UC) College of Accountancy (COA) brought together students, faculty, and administrators for its General Assembly. The event gathered students across all undergraduate disciplines—the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA), Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting (BSMA), Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information Systems (BSAIS), Bachelor of Science in Forensic Accounting (BSFA), and Bachelor of Science in Internal Auditing (BSIA)—serving as an institutional venue to strengthen academic alignment, professional belonging, and community engagement.

The program commenced with formal Opening Ceremonies, followed by Welcome Remarks delivered by Dr. Julie Ann U. Abellera, Program Chair for Accountancy, setting a tone of collaborative growth and high professional aspirations for the academic term. Students were formally introduced to the College of Accountancy faculty roster, reinforcing early mentorship avenues between learners and educators across specialized fields.

A pivotal segment of the gathering was the College Orientation and Retention Policy presentation, led by Dr. Jasmin May P. Baniaga, Dean of the College of Accountancy. Dean Baniaga provided clear, detailed guidance regarding curricular pathways, professional standards, and retention benchmarks.

This briefing directly transitioned into an interactive Open Forum, creating an open dialogue where students across all year levels and programs raised questions, clarified academic guidelines, and engaged in transparent administrative communication. The assembly also featured the Introduction of College of Accountancy’s Organizations, highlighting co-curricular organizations that drive leadership development, peer-assisted tutorials, and professional networking within the student body.

Dynamic intermission numbers and ice breakers offered opportunities for camaraderie, easing academic pressures and cultivating cross-program ties. The formal program concluded with Closing Remarks by Mrs. Bernadette Velasquez, followed by a commemorative photo opportunity celebrating college unity.

The COA General Assembly operationalizes institutional commitments to global sustainability standards through concrete administrative practices: SDG 4: Quality Education (Target 4.3 – Equal Access to Quality Tertiary Education), and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (Target 16.7 – Responsive, Inclusive, and Participatory Decision-Making).
